A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) Exercise, titled “CYPFRA-04/17” was conducted on Friday, 18th of August 2017, near the coast of Cyprus, with the participation of SAR Units and Personnel from the Republic of Cyprus and France.
The French Frigate «GUEPRATTE», and the helicopter of the Cyprus Police Aviation Unit took part in the Aeronautical SAR Exercise under the operational control and coordination of the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) Larnaca, in close cooperation with the French Navy.
The scenario dealt with a simulated “Maritime Accident”, in an oil production platform and ships in which the Cyprus National SAR Plan “NEARCHOS” was immediately implemented by the JRCC Larnaca in order to confront the situation.
SAREX “CYPFRA-04/17” is the fourth exercise for 2017, conducted within the framework of a long-lasting cooperation, between the JRCC Larnaca (which represents the SAR system of the Republic of Cyprus) and the French Navy.
After the end of the Exercise, was executed Medevac from a fishing vessel to the Larnaca General Hospital.
