Lieutenant-Commander NAVY Andreas Charalampides was born in 1976 in Larnaca, originating from the occupied city of Famagusta. He entered the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1994 and graduated in 1998 as an Ensign (N). He served the National Guard from various positions such as the Commander of Agia Napa Naval Observatory, the Captain of FPB “Lieutenant-Commander NAVY E. TSOMAKIS”, the Commander of Coastal Batteries and as the Head of Navy Operations Department of Operations Department of National Guard General Staff.
He was transferred to Joint Rescue Coordination Center on the 15th of July 2014, serving as Operations Officer and Deputy Commander of the Center. On the 17th of December 2018 he assumed the duties and responsibilities of JRCC Commander from Commodore Constantinos Fitiris, who retired from National Guard.
He has graduated from the Supreme Joint War College and has received all the medals provided to his rank.
He is married and he is the father of 2 children.
