On December 20th 2017, a delegation from the Egyptian training ship “SHALATIN” visited the JRCC Larnaca/ZENON Coordination Centre.
The delegation was briefed on the JRCC’s capabilities, on its role in case of a crisis and evacuation from the Middle East as well as for JRCC’s future plans in improving coastal and sea surveillance. There was also a briefing and discussion on the forthcoming SAR Exercise which will be held on December 22nd south of the Larnaca coast within the area of responsibility of the Cyprus Republic.
The head of the delegation, Vice Admiral Mohamed Mokhtar, expressed his appreciation regarding the overall organization and operational readiness of the JRCC Larnaca and his important contribution to the region. He also expressed his satisfaction about the execution of the joint SAR Exercise, as it will be a great chance for the cadets of the Navy Academy on board to be familiar with Search and Rescue operations.
